High-temperature miniature ball bearings are specialized small bearings designed to operate reliably in heat environments where standard bearings fail. Here is a clear overview plus some real product examples.
GMW offers miniature ball bearings as below:
- Flanged miniature bearings in chrome steel
- Stainless Steel Miniature Bearings for high precision
- Stainless steel miniature flange bearings for high precision
High-temperature miniature bearings have the following advantages:
Compared to normal miniature bearings, high-temp versions use:
-
Materials: stainless steel (S440C) and chrome steel (SAE52100, Gcr15)
-
Lubrication: High temperature grease up to 150°C with base-oil Lithium and up to 200°C with base-oil Polyete perflorua
-
Internal clearance: usually CN or C3
-
Seals/shields: Steel shields (ZZ) instead of rubber viton
- Tolerances class: Grade P0, P6, P5, P4
These are used in:
- Small motors / fan cooling
- Miniature gearboxes
- 3D printers (heated chambers)
- Aerospace / precision tools
- Etc…
The application-specific product selection criteria include:
- Temperature range: choose at least 20–30% above your operating temperature
- Lubricant type: grease must match temperature.
- Speed versus heat: the higher the speed, the greater the heat.
- Load: Miniature bearings have limited load capacity.
- Works well in cold storage / cryogenic
